Turtle Island Story – Character Ed (Integrity)

In the month of May, students of Strathcona School gather in circles to learn character building stories and share their thoughts and ideas.

The May Circle’s topic was to tell the The Story of Turtle Island as an introduction to the school’s “Turtle Island Flag Project”. Each student contributed flags which represented the many heritages and nations that are represented by the students at school. The flags were mounted on a wall which was a great visual celebration of unity.

This video was very quickly put together – we needed to tell the the Turtle Island story to 13 classrooms over the course of one week. The sound quality isn’t the best in this version due to equipment limitations however, the students, staff and parents enjoy hearing the story, and talking about it’s many positive messages.
